What ever happen to the phrase “live and let live” or my favorite “what
does it matter their not peeing in your back yard.” Sometimes it is hard to fathom that those two
statements about tolerance ever existed.
It is my fervent belief that, we go through situations in
our lives that prompt and challenge us to grow and change, then we take that knowledge
and help others; becoming a light of hope, a word of encouragement and an
example, that it does get better.
I was straddling both sides of the fence, seeing a man by
day and sneaking out to the lesbian bar at night. I had to find out for myself just what I was
becoming, have one experience that would prove to me one way or another just
what was happening to me.
Then from behind I heard a voice say "so, whats your name."
That one night stand, turned into a hot affair.
Oh yeah! I was gay and there was no going back.
"We go through situations in our lives that prompt and challenge us to grow and change" -- So true, Christie. Life throws out the challenge, and it's up to us to either turn away or take it by the horns and enjoy the ride--and the lessons. Great post, and congratulations on finding your voice and yourself.

Thank you, all of these challenges have prompted me to help others with similar struggles. There is always a reason for the lesson.
DeleteLife is definitely every challenging.
ReplyDeleteYes I agree, life throws many lessons at you to help you grow.
ReplyDeleteWe face many challenges to help us learn, reflect and grow into better human beings. Loved your short post.
ReplyDeleteSo glad you found out who you were!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm almost 40 and still trying to figure out who I am. Congratulations for figuring some things out about yourself early on, and here's hoping you continue learning and growing. May we both never stop moving forward in facing challenges, in whichever form they arise!
ReplyDeleteI'm participating in AtoZ, too.
See you around!
